do you think it's worth it to bring it to the disputes tribunal to stop his illegal activities?
No. The minimum filing fee is around $70 so you'd have to be feeling generous.

Re: i was sold a pirated dvd on trade me

Hi Ramil and welcome to ScamBusters. Sorry to hear you've been ripped off with a pirated DVD. I had a similar thing happen about three years ago when I bought a Breaking Bad DVD on TradeMe. The Invercargill-based seller was listing dozens of copies of DVDs and was obviously making a good income from...

Re: Iphone Scam - TM Account "frcrmr" Michael Kavarnos

Hi Tony and welcome to ScamBusters. A quick Google search shows that he listed quite a few expensive items recently, so you did well to get your money back. Here's a news report from August 2014 which mentions a certain Michael Kavarnos who stole $144,000 worth of goods to feed a meth addiction. The...

Re: Profiles that may put buyers off

We're not the only ones who think chalky's expectations may be a little high for his overpriced plate. Somebody who sells collectible number plates felt obliged to ask a Q on this auction . I'm just wondering if your psychological deranged in the head mate . This advert doesn't make sense . That is ...

Re: Profiles that may put buyers off

It seems that the subject of the first post in this thread has not matured with age. Take his latest auction. No offence but this auction is simpy a basic decision of ‘click buynow & pay‘ or ‘click back arrow the main menu page‘ {so will not reply anymore weird or idiot questions but the buyer who c...

Re: Only $1 reserve... plus another five grand please!

If I have read this story aright..... when it comes to $1 reserves, Honest mistakes can be made with both Buyers and Sellers.... I don't think you read it right. This was a blatant case of fee avoidance. On the $1 auction the fee would have been 50c or less. On a $5,000 auction the fee would be $14...

Re: No edit button on Scam Busters- (New members)

Hi Marie. As we've already explained to you by email, every user has a 15 minute window in which to edit their posts and correct and typos. This is neither a system error or a scam. And obviously some people need this facility more than others. Preview is NOT the same as edit. As the name implies, P...

Re: New to Scambusters, been ripped off on TM :(

Hi Emme and welcome to ScamBusters. I'm sorry that your post seems to have slipped through the net... things tend to get pretty quiet here over the holiday period. Note that her account had only been operating for one month before she ripped you off. Unfortunately TM has always had a number of deads...

TM introduces buyer protection

TM have announced a new buyer protection scheme. It sounds good on the surface, for buyers at least. If a trade goes wrong TM will refund the buyer up to the value of $2,500. But it may not be so kind to sellers. For a start, the scheme only applies to trades paid using TM's Pay Now credit card syst...

Re: reganzayn/popeye01 - fraudulent lost in post claims

Hi Hugo and welcome to ScamBusters. There's no sign of any legal action being taken against this trader. TM have left both of her accounts alive, though popeye01 hasn't traded since 2014 and her reganzayn account last traded in 2011. Of course it's quite possible that she has other TM accounts we're...

Re: Trademe Staff

Hi Ross, it would be most unusual for TM to close an account because of "one disgruntled buyer". In fact we've never come across such an instance in the past ten years. There has to be a lot more to this story. Care to elaborate?
