Re: Malaysian Trademe/Paypal Car Scam

I find this so annoying as I did think it was a genuine buyer, between the Tyre kickers, people whom have contacted me re my spelling, the green eyed, armchair tall poppies and now scammers, this is not a great experience :smt013 I agree that it tends to sour the TradeMe selling experience Michele....

Re: Misleading Auction Representation

One of the traders mentioned above has leapt on the Lomu bandwagon. Seller happytobehere has listed a Jonah Lomu signed photo for fifty bucks. And he has the usual claims of UACC membership. We are members of UACC (Universal Autograph Collectors Club). Therefore you can buy with confidence that this...

Old Friends site will close January 2016

I'd always imagined that the OF site was more or less running on auto, but I guess there's no profit in running such a service these days. From early to mid-January, the Old Friends site will be closed down and you won't be able to access it anymore. Any data will also be deleted. If you have any in...

Re: Chinese to buy 24 NZ dairy farms?

Writing in the Herald, Fran O'Sullivan suggests that the Stevenson Group may have been economical with the truth when they claimed the highest local offer for Lochinvar Station was some $26.4 million less that Pengxin's $88 million offer. They told the Overseas Investment Office they wouldn't put Lo...

Re: Microsoft - Again!!

The Independent reports that from next year Microsoft will sneak Windows 10 onto all computers without users' knowledge. Fortunately for those of us who prefer to stick with a slightly less intrusive OS (like Win7) there is a fix. Here's the full instructions as well as a little downloadable registr...

British telecom company TalkTalk has finally admitted it was the victim of a “significant and sustained” cyber-attack and the theft of credit card and bank details of up to 4 million customers. The nzextremedeal listings went from limbo to withdrawn as they closed. I guess it's the TM equivalent of the naughty corner.

Hi John, by the sound of things TM may have treated you shabbily. I'd love to get an idea of how many TM cases are lined up before the court.

All the best with your court case and please let us know how you get on.

Re: Selling phone on TM. What scams to watch out for?

Hi James and welcome to ScamBusters. The most common TradeMe phone scam we come across is people listing non-existent mobiles, then taking the money and running. We've even had one seller auctioning the same iPhone numerous times. The good news is as a seller you're in a much better position. 1. Rec...

Re: Malaysian Trademe/Paypal Car Scam

From: Linda Megan <lindamegan@gmail.com> Hello, Is this your vehicle still available for sale? When last are you service it? Why are you selling it? What is the ...
