TM Store Feedback problems

Irrational behaviour and incomprehensible decisions 101 - this is the place. If they're really silly, you could win a chocolate fish.* (* Highly unlikely and they're only virtual chocolate fish)

TM Store Feedback problems

Post by Googlybear » Mon Sep 23, 2013 3:59 am

The latest stuffup due to the constant tinkering

http://www.trademe.co.nz/stores/justlap ... ack&page=2" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
no matter what feedback page you click on, you only receive the first page.

Once again this really shows that TMs developers do not carry out even basic bug checking after making site changes

Is this just a test to see if degrading the feedback system will cause a fuss? If not, dropping older feedback will save a bit of disk space (read save money).

It's more likely however, to be as Googlybear has stated, just a stuff up.
Google, the answer to so many questions!

It's an interesting bug in that it only affects TM stores and from what I can see, normal user feedback is unaffected. I can't see that it would save any disc space as all of the information will be stored in TM's databases regardless... it's only the code which calls the information which is flawed. Is TM aware of this bug?

If you hover the mouse over the Feedback page links you can spot the link and String value referring to the particular page is still correct

trademe.co.nz/stores/justlaptops/feedback&page=2

and the link is displayed in the browser address bar when you click on it.
so its the script that reads the page=x information and loads the appropriate page that is broken.

The TM Stores feedback URL is different than normal traders so must run a separate script which is why it only affect them
trademe.co.nz/Members/Feedback.aspx?member=3758612&type=&page=3

The TM shop below has even another different URL format when loading Feedback
http://www.trademe.co.nz/stores/pb-tech ... pe=&page=3" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
trademe.co.nz/stores/pb-tech/feedback?member=162614&type=&page=3

If you have messy and non consistent code, these problems are going to happen when you fiddle with parts of the site
