Useful Scripts and Add-Ons for TradeMe with FireFox

Post by marika3 » Tue May 18, 2010 8:57 am

If you run FireFox browser, you can make your life easier by installing a few very useful add-ons and scripts.

To block unwanted ads on TM pages:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/433/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - blocks flashs ads
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - AdBlock Plus

To keep lef-side links, previously removed by TM from menu:
First, install Geasemonkey from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Restart FireFox.
Install http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/53227" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; to get links on the left.

To see all listings with gallery, while browsing, install
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/49772" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
or
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/10349" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I personally use the first one (TradeMe Photos), works fine and shows not only thumbnails of all listings, but also first lines of item description for listings whith no gallery. Also works for expired listings and for Favourites.
I did not try the second one, though.

All other greasemonkey scripts for TradeMe can be found at http://userscripts.org/scripts/search?q=trademe&x=0&y=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If you`re like me and fed up with the truncated auction titles in the `my products` page, i`ve uploaded a simple grease-monkey fix for that

If you have a widescreen or 18.5" & larger monitor:

'My Products' Width Increase (For Widescreens)
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/151075" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

for Smaller or low resolutions Monitors

'My Products' Width Increase (Non Widescreen)
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/151076" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Nice script to check neutral, negative and kiwi feedbacks: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/125024" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Just click on red or blue icon on somebody's FB page, and you will see them all from the last 1000 FBs provided by TM.

That's a very cool one. I always wondered why TM didn't institute that functionality themselves.

Meanwhile here's another beaut... a script that displays the username and postage price on category and search listings.

http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/128811" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Has anyone noticed that the handy greasemonkey scripts are no longer working on TradeMe? I really miss them.

It looks like userscripts.org is down and out.

http://www.ghacks.net/2014/05/09/usersc ... ernatives/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Someone has set up a mirror site along with a handy little greasemonkey plugin which redirects users to the new site.

http://userscripts-mirror.org/scripts/show/487275.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Can anyone else confirm that some of the Greasemonkey scripts aren't working on TM? While I have the latest version installed they're not acting the way they should. In particular, the ones that...

* Show negative and neutral FBs only

* The Real Estate filter that eliminates all "no price" listings

* The super handy script which removes the need to hit the "Go" button after you select a dropdown menu.

If these are still working for anyone, then I must have a different problem. Thanks!

Mine work fine, FireFox 28.0
FB filter, hide footer, shipping prices, remove dropdown, extra links on sidebar.

Gallery script stopped working some time ago, but Google extention Gallery Plus 1.0 does the job.

Aha... there have been a bunch of updates added to the scripts in the last 48 hours... all working again. ;-)

I can also recommend this handy little script which shows end prices for expired listings... even old ones.

https://greasyfork.org/scripts/1091-trademe-end-price" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Anyone using the Greasemonkey 'Remove TM header & footer' script may have noticed that it stopped working recently. That's because TM switched to using the more secure https format for urls. It's an easy fix. Just add the following line...

Code: Select all

// @include https://www.trademe.co.nz/*
to the existing script.

I wrote a greasemonkey sciript a few years ago to expand the auction title column on the `my product` page
Then TM broke it with the new and improved MP released around 6 months ago.

i have FINALLY been able to determine why i could not get my updated script to work with the new MP site.

https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/10411 ... h-expander

I have only just finished it so it still needs some minor adjustments and is a bit rough so some updates will be uploaded over the next couple of weeks.

i also created another script to deal with the stupid member-only auction listing category path that TM introduced as another `new feature` a while ago

https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/10310 ... ath-insert

Thank you Googlybear. That "member's listings" breadcrumb thing was so bloody annoying, it must have resulted in countless missed sales. I've lost count of the number of times I've been viewing a widget in someone's listings, clicked the breadcrumb category to see what was available from other sellers only to be restricted the first seller's listings. It was a seriously dumb innovation. The only way you could view a category at that stage was to navigate slowly via "browse" through the categories. It was a right pain and I frequently walked away.

I wonder if TM introduced that when they were anticipating a deal with Aliexpress (or another mythical "large overseas site" they spoke of) which would see millions of new listings appear on their site overnight? It might benefit a seller with 10,000+ listings, but it certainly worsened the experience for buyers. That's the only explanation I can think of for their designers adding such a retrograde "feature".

Well done little bear!

At the moment the script is adding a second line, producing two lines of breadcrumbs. I can live with that, but it would be even cleaner to lose the "member" line altogether if that''s possible.

I created an update that includes the option to choose if you want both breadcrumbs or just the full one by editing a line of code.
it defaults to one.

Unfortunately there was small error in the original scripts metadata that (for some weird reason) caused greasyfork to encode the spaces in the scripts name which then caused it to look horribly mangled in greasemonkey`s menu.

That means i had to rename the script which will cause greasemonkey to think it is a different script.
This requires anyone who has already installed the script to remove it using greasemonkey before updating or reinstalling it.
