Nicehair.co.nz Counterfiet GHD's

Fake copies of Microsoft Office, operating systems, memory cards and flash drives, fake designer clothing... anything of that nature. At any given time TM offers thousands of fake itmes which breach their terms & conditions... and often do little about the problem. This is the place to discuss the issue.

I don't know what I did specifically to get my money back, I just let them know how hard I was working to make sure they got caught, told them they would not get away with it, stated my rights LEGALLY and what laws they were in breach of, and the fines they could face if caught, I totally just stated my rights sent emails twice each day, gave them 5 working days to respnd or I would take to police, then let them know it was with police, told them I had all the details I needed to process a complaint on them.

I think I may just be lucky, but good luck hun, all I can say is just keep on their backs.

Cheers

Ouch that hurts

Just alerting everyone turnes out nicehair.co.nz has lauched a new fake ghd website HAIRDRESS.CO.NZ.

And as update on the refund front, I have gotten $119 of my money back and the $140 is meant to be coming - according to the e-mails, I just hounded and hounded and hounded these guys and got as much evidence on them as I could, saved an offline copy of the website, and a hard copy - which i'm sending a copy of to ghd new zealand.

I would be more than happy to make a joint complaint to the police. I live in Lake Tekapo and everytime I go to see my local cop hes never home so as of yet I haven't been able to start the process but the Timaru Police are aware I want to make a complaint but I have to do the paperwork - annoying I can't and I still want to - so if you are able to get to a police station and make a complaint I am MORE THAN HAPPY to be added to it.

Sorry you got ripped off as well.

Regards,

Louise

Good call Kai. I also complained to the Commerce Commission on behalf
of ScamBusters but they haven't replied yet.

Your advice is perfect. If you've bought goods from these people, call

0800 943 600

and register your complaint. Do it now if you can.

No such company hairdress salon on the new zealand companies register.

Box 12122 is infact at Thorndon, Wellington, but with a different postcode, so in all probability a fake address again (like with nicehair.co.nz)

Google brings up nothing for Box Address

Google brings up nothing for Phone Number

NZ Commerce commission

Post by hunta131 » Thu Mar 05, 2009 11:29 pm

Hi everyone! I have been scammed from this company also in the month of Jan. Tried to get my money back and while they deposited $99.00 into my account i have not heard when i will get the rest of it.
What bugs me is that the NZ commission have had lots of people complain about this website and they have given the same response, "if we get enough people complaining then we will do something about it". People have been complaining to them since NOV and still nothing has been done. I advised GHD company about it and Bianca advised that their lawyers were trying to shut it down. They had been aware of it for awhile. 3 weeks later the website was still operational. I have written a letter to fair go, another letter to NZ commission, e-mailed Target and seen the police. Worse thing about these people (NICEHAIR) is that they have done this many times before. They start up websites get paid and then "disappear". I seem to think the hairdress company is one of them. You'll find more victims of this horrid website on geekzone. :-x :-x :-x

Hi Huntz and welcome to ScamBusters. I also discussed these people with
my Fair Go contact last week. While they did a story on fake GHDs last year,
they're hopefully looking at a small update right now.

I also have trouble reconciling the Commerce Commission's role with their
lack of interest in this case. For every victim who has posted in these forums
there are bound to be dozens more.

I just written to the CC again.
Dear ComCom,

I'm an administrator of ScamBusters - an internet watchdog group
helping victims of online scams.

http://scambusters.co.nz

This is a followup to my earlier complaint about fake GHD hair
straighteners being sold via http://www.nicehair.co.nz and
http://www.hairdress.co.nz for many months.

Several members of our group have contacted you regarding this
fraudulent operation, but apparently you have shown little interest
to date citing "not enough complaints". Could I ask how many
complaints are needed before you'll take a look at these criminals?

The following forum threads contain details of the scam.

http://scambusters.co.nz/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3873

http://scambusters.co.nz/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4978

(The most recent posts are towards the end of the threads).

Note that domain registration details for these sites are forged and
it's unlikely that the people behind the scam are paying tax on their
profits.

We have a number of victims who are willing to provide evidence if
required. For every victim we're aware of there are bound to be dozens
of others.

I urge you to take action against these people and look forward to your
response.

Regards,

Alf West

I too have just been ripped off by hairdress.co.nz i am going to lodge a complaint with the police today. Cannot believe seeing how many complaints that the commerce commission has not done anything about it. The person behind this skam is not answering my emails and do not seem to get a refund. Has anyone got any ideas how to get one.

I've received a reply from ComCom, but I'm afraid it's not very helpful.
Dear ***,

I am responding to your email regarding the complaints directed to the
Commerce Commission about GHD hair straighteners.

You ask in your email how many complaints the Commission would need
to receive to take a look at the issue. It is not an issue of a magic
number. What you have alleged is fraud. Fraud comes under the Crimes
Act. The Commerce Commission does not investigate fraud. I suggest
you contact the Police.

I would also point out that where there is a matter of intellectual
property, it is appropriate for the holder of the intellectual property rights
(in this case the GHD company) to enforce the IP issues. The Commission
does not enforce intellectual property issues.

I hope that this helps to clarify why we have not launched an
investigation.

HUH???

Post by hunta131 » Fri Mar 27, 2009 1:54 am

what a cr@ppy e-mail from comcom! Maybe they should stop advising people that they are unable to do anything until they have enough complaints if that be the case. As i took from Allanah shes pretty much saying that our complaints were a waste of time because they were not going to deal with them.
Thanks for the update Digidog and for trying to help. Highly appreciated.

From the ComCom's web site at http://www.comcom.govt.nz/TheCommission/Overview.aspx we have:

<QUOTE>
Underpinning the Commission’s Purpose are three strategic goals. They are that:
<SNIP>
consumers are confident of the accuracy of information they receive when making choices; and
<END QUOTE>

I would have thought incorrect product labelling is a question of accuracy of information.

The thing about most government departments such as ComCom is that the easiest way for them to achieve their response metrics is by preventing work from being accepted at the front desk. This is the very reverse of normal commercial business practice where extra work is desired as it creates income. Thus don't be surprised at having to jump hurdles when trying to get govt departments to accept work.
