Fake and Suspicious Memory Cards on Trademe

Fake copies of Microsoft Office, operating systems, memory cards and flash drives, fake designer clothing... anything of that nature. At any given time TM offers thousands of fake itmes which breach their terms & conditions... and often do little about the problem. This is the place to discuss the issue.

I complained about one and mentioned all of his similar listings. I presume Googlybear did the same. Within ten minutes they'd all vanished. I suspect I was just lucky enough to reach an intelligent member of TM's CW team.

It still seems to be a hit and miss affair and as digidog suggests, comes down the to which CW person your lucky (or unlucky) enough to get.

I still can`t determine if it`s insufficient training or some some staff just don`t care.
It is most likely is the first but surely TM provide a visual guide reference for their CW staff.
Almost all the auction images contain the same counterfeit packaging that should eventually be easily identifiable in TM`s counterfeit guide.

Sometimes if TM are not sure they ask the seller for a copy of the purchase invoice to be emailed to them.
They remove any buy now option and allow the seller some time to execute the request.
That is why some auctions are only removed a few days after they are CWed

Fake Capacity lose your data 32GB Micro SDHC Card
http://www.trademe.co.nz/mobile-phones/ ... 373440.htm
Fake capacity 32GB micro SDHC card recently purchased on trademe from crazydeal. Read below to learn how to avoid unexpected data loss.

Perfect sabotage opportunity gift for your enemy or business competitor. Almost impossible to detect the fakeness until your data disappears (unless you know to test for it). Their photos, videos, evidence recordings etc will work at first and continue show in indexes and previews but eventually most files will be corrupt and they won't find out until they try to use them. They probably won't even know it was a faked deliberately sabotaged card, and just assume it was poor quality and died a sad but natural death.

This is not the first fake capacity card I have purchased on trademe and my sd card purchases have always been from sellers with great feedback. I'm guessing most buyers don't even know they got a fake card. Most people's data is worth more than the smartphone or whatever device it is stored on.

Even if you don't buy this fake card please check whether the cards you own are real or fake and save yourself grief. Please download H2testw which is free software, will not harm any of your existing data, and will write test files to the unused remainder of your SD Card to test whether it is genuine or a nasty booby-trap. Alternatively backup your data and fill your card with movies and see how many of them, if any, will play right through.

Download and run H2testw from http://www.heise.de/download/a488764227 ... 881bf4fcdb
-1427070247-223582.html today ...
...and sell your fake SD cards on trademe tomorrow. Be sure to say they are fake or you could be hearing about section 240 of the Crimes Act 1962 "Obtaining by deception or causing loss by deception". http://www.legislation.govt.nz/act/publ ... /latest/DL
M330275.html....
...Or just give them as presents to your enemies.

Only buy SD cards from sellers who acknowledge the faking problem and state that theirs are genuine.
This is not the first fake capacity card I have purchased on trademe
if your gullible enough to repeatably buy cards at too-good-to-be-true prices then there is no point in whining

Another Samsung this time with a sticker designating the capacity

samsung 32 gb micro sd class 10

- Now withdrawn by TradeMe -

Trader has only 7 trades with 1 red, 1 blue and 1 kiwi in feedback

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Feedba ... er=3421141
Card arrived safely. Pleased with my purchase. Although $7 postage for a pre-paid NZ Post DLE envelope was a bit steep! Pleasure turned to pain after successfully loading 20 photos, the next 20 photos caused the card to revert to Raw format and couldn't be read. All efforts to reformat the card using a variety of software have failed. Research shows that these cards are fakes, this one being a 16GB which has been hacked to give an initial 64GB . Let the buyer beware, I've been ripped off!
Also has a 64Gb listed

There has always been a number of fake capacity unbranded micro cards listed each week, however recently this problem seems to be getting larger and tonight there are at least 8 different sellers selling 64GB cards that have clearly had their capacity altered.

They are easy to pick as they all marked SDHC and formatted in FAT32 format.
To meet the SD Specification Version 2.00, 64GB cards and higher must be SDXC ExFAT format.
almost all of the TM cards will be 4GB capacity with a 6 number added in-front of the 4 by the counterfeiters.

Avoid this sellers cheap faulty merchandise. received sd card and both the adaptor and the usb adaptor would not work. After using the sd card in GoPro discover that over 3 weeks of footage lost because his cheap nasty sd card has corrupted all the data. Don't waste your time here. Thanks for a bad trademe experience
