Microsoft Windows 7 & Windows 8 Auctions

Fake copies of Microsoft Office, operating systems, memory cards and flash drives, fake designer clothing... anything of that nature. At any given time TM offers thousands of fake itmes which breach their terms & conditions... and often do little about the problem. This is the place to discuss the issue.

Windows 7 Pro SP1 32-64bit (Full Version License)

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =749302879" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Having successfully sold one key only, no software... sooke is having another go. You might think that TradeMe could spot some warning signs with this line...
"It don't support the online download directly from MS."
But maybe not?

trader: sooke
name: Comset
loc'n: Auckland
joined: October 2013
status: Authenticated

His only neutral feedback is for selling a FAKE copy of Office 2011.
"... fake product. The MS office was a fake copy from overseas that didn't contain a legitimate disk or code."
It's weird that while we can spot all the obvious signs associated with fake software keys, some TM staff are quite blind.

sooke again... note that this one closes tomorrow. Running short one or two day auctions is usually an attempt to get around TM's radar.

These two lines are particularity worrying
It don't support the online download directly from MS.
This license only could be used for win7 pro sp1, not for win7 pro or any other versions of win7
A legitimate key will work with or without a service pack installed.
Those statements indicates he is forcing the buyer to download the Windows Install files from a third party website.
in addition to the possibility of viruses, these copies are usually hacked to permanently deactivate the automatic update routines to prevent new versions of WAT being installed that can detect blacklisted or illegal license keys.

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ ... ave-virus/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
100% of the six copies had Windows Update disabled

phonemaster1 is back with some more "too cheap to be believed" MS offerings.

Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 32/64bit Full Version - key only

I'm a bit confused about these listings. How are you deciphering what is real or not? I've sold a few genuine product key / license only items and tm admin mostly always restricted my listings then requested i provide proof of authenticity documents. I always sent it in, it was accepted and my listings were restored as normal. So is it a bit of a hit or miss with tm admin? Do they only ask some sellers and not others perhaps? If they just asked everyone in the software category for proof, i suspect it would be easier to see who's got the counterfeit software and act accordingly?

There a multiple signs that point to most `product key` only software being counterfeit.

with the case of trader sooke there are a number of flags indicating the software is not genuine
He has Windows 7 keys for sale when Microsoft did not sell windows 7 product keys by themselves.

There is also the neutral feedback he recieved for selling other Microsoft software that the buyer identified as being counterfeit.
All the current `Product Key` listings on TM are listed at buy-nows well below what even wholesalers would pay for Genuine Windows.

Sooke sold a copy of Windows 7 Pro for $69 when according to pricespy the cheapest price in NZ for just the OEM version is $200
The wholesale price available to resellers for this software is still over $180

There are many small mistakes in the description that show his software to be suspicious such as
it is only could be used for personal computer, not for business
The professional versions of Microsoft Windows family of software are specifically designed for businesses and is something an official Microsoft Seller would be aware of so his statement is misleading .

There is also a copy of Microsoft Office Pro Plus sold for a ridiculous $86
Copies of Office Plus are only available under volume licenses to large corporation that purchase many copies for their business. they are not sold separately and are not available to home users.

Most counterfeit software is almost always accompanied by the `100% Genuine` Statement.
Why would a seller need to put such a statement apart from trying to allay any suspicions?
