Microsoft Windows 7 & Windows 8 Auctions

Fake copies of Microsoft Office, operating systems, memory cards and flash drives, fake designer clothing... anything of that nature. At any given time TM offers thousands of fake itmes which breach their terms & conditions... and often do little about the problem. This is the place to discuss the issue.

Trademe user jazzwow has popped up on my radar, 329 positives for Microsoft and Adobe products, all positive so far, license key only with a download link etc etc.

Selling MS Project for buy it now $299, Win 7 Pro for around $100 etc etc. Really pumping the sales through, I'm amazed he's still able to do it. I've reported a few auctions and trade me don't respond, even emailed them, no response to that.

Any thoughts guys, I can see clearly it's not for genuine software but trade me seem happy to let them all run.

We discussed this guy back in March, and he's still freely selling what appears to be pirated software/keys with TradeMe's blessing. I'm not sure what criteria TM uses to "approve" such traders. There's enough evidence to suggest that the software is not kosher, but TM are happy to keep the blinkers on for as long as they're benefitting directly from these sales.

I noticed GamePlanet linking to this thread - they have an active discussion on jazzwow as well. Their members have been in touch with Microsoft and concluded that tyhis guy is selling stolen Dreamspark accounts - a form of education version. Here's the thread.

Note the hopeless response they received from TM.

Here's a copy of Win7 Home Premium with what appears to be a rather dodgy provenance.
- Now withdrawn by TradeMe -
the product key has been used once on my previous PC, which is not been working for quite a while. I have called the microsoft customer service and they have checked the product key for me, they said it is still valid for activate more systems.

This is a retail edition, much better than OEM edition. can be used many times.
Hmmm... how many times exactly? The vendor obviously knows because he sold an identical package on 28th Feb with exactly the same story.

The photo in auction 850441253 shows that software was an OEM version so that is against TM rules.

Strangely though in my experience TM are more prone to removing OEM auctions than truly pirated counterfeit software.
They have removed every OEM listing i have reported but continually ignore the illegal copies.

Of course any seller that is reported simply re-lists the auction minus any reference to it being OEM

The current Auction photo shows the software as a Retail version so they wont remove that one.

Perversely, TM removed it this time. Maybe I'm projecting especially good karma at the moment? ;-)

Jazzwow - confirmed fake software seller

Post by digidog » Sun Mar 22, 2015 8:51 pm

Last year we outed trader Jazzwow as a seller of fake MS products, but despite our complaints TradeMe continued to allow him to sell fake software to unsuspecting buyers. Here's a post from July 2014.

We just received an email from one of the ripped off buyers confirming that Jazzwow was indeed selling fake license keys. Here's his letter to TradeMe, republished with permission.
Dear Sir/Madam,

Nine months ago we bought Windows 7 Professional 64 bit License key off one of your traders. Listing #: 733198671 His trading name is jazzwow, Franklin, Auckland.

2 Weeks ago Windows de-activated itself informing us our License Key to Windows is no longer authentic. After thorough communication and investigation with Microsoft, they have confirmed without doubt that this key has been pirated 5 times in total, including us. The product key was nothing more than a mere trial key that he payed next to nothing for, and its purpose was to be used specifically for testing hardware. He has sold our specific key onto 4 other people who will be in our situation now or due to be.

We have got the best security and the best internet habits, and after thorough investigation into our system there's not a single chance that we have had our security breached, as I am a highly regarded computer technician. After looking further into this particular traders selling habits, I feel confident to say they are a software pirate, running scams on your website.

Due to TradeMe being the host of such auctions, I am requesting full compliance and assistance in disclosing this members full details allowing us to take him to small claims court and any other further legal action we can execute.

If you check this link, alfie who goes by the username digidog states that your trademe user jazzwow is most likely a scammer. He raises an alarming point about your conduct as a auction host which appears to be turning a blind eye to this sort of thing in the name of making a profit.

I really hope you will prove otherwise and be of assitance to us.

I am a highly regarded computer technician.
Buying keys off a trading site is not the expected behaviour of this class of person.

That said, good on him for going for the jugular of a shonky trader (and Trademe, if I read the implied threat correctly). Watch this space.

This morning's sale has given Jin from Auckland the confidence to list more "key only" Microsoft product offerings with short (2 day) listings.

Jin from Auckland is having a lovely old time selling "key only" Microsoft products. He's worked out that running short (2 day) listings beats TM's community watch. Are TM complicit in allowing these sales? Here are today's auctions... but get in fast, they close tomorrow!

Windows 7 Professional Key for 1 PC

- Sold for $65 -

MICROSOFT WINDOWS OFFICE PROFESSIONAL 2010 (1 PC)

TM have finally acted on steve1571 and withdrawn one of his Microsoft auctions. His feedback shows 89 sales of MS products - over five grand for selling MS keys only. It'll be interesting to see if he lists any more.

Well, we know the usual route. Just create another account, then it's business as usual.
