And a little email to give our scammer some more work.
Hi Paul,

Thanks for providing the detailed payment instructions. The solicitor who
administers our Family Trust has agreed to release the funds we need to
buy your car. That's great news.

However he will not allow us to use Western Union. He says it is not a safe
system as it is used by many scammers. Not that I think you're one of
them. LOL!

Cyril has suggested that we use this procedure.

1. Could you please send us a copy of the car's registration papers. While
I trust that it's in your name he says we should check this. Any document
that proves you own the car will be fine.

2. We send the $4,000 deposit via interbank transfer to Banca Intesa.
http://www.bancaintesa.it/ They have many branches in Rome. Cyril's
company has a contact there and this would be easy for both of us.

3. Or if you'd prefer we can send the money via Secure Consolidated
transfer to any bank you choose. This is another transfer between banks
and is very safe.

Do you have a phone number I can call you on to discuss this? And what
is the best time to call?

We're excited about this and can't wait to get our new car.

Many thanks,
Let's see if we can get some forged papers and possibly a phone number.

Our seller has gone a little quiet, so Tania has fired him along with this email.
Hi Paul.

Just a quick note to make sure that the Commodore hasn’t been sold. The
money from our trust account has now been released and is sitting in a
holding account at our Trustees. We’re only waiting for a copy of the
ownership papers and verification of how we’re depositing the money.
It’s (hubby's) birthday in about 6 weeks time and we’re hoping to take the
kids on holiday to Queenstown to celebrate it. It’d be lovely if we can
finalise the deal (if you haven’t sold it) so that we can take our new
car with us.

Hear from you soon

I wonder if they were pinched from a previous TM auction?
The trademe back-end compresses the heck out of uploaded photos. These photos are too high quality to have been grabbed off a trademe listing.

Oh - I forgot to add that the line about shipping the car via Lufthansa is highly amusing.

My job involves over-seeing global logistics. The first problem is that you cannot fit a car into the hold of a standard air-freighter. The second problem is that it would cost considerably more than 16kNZD in air-freight charges to freight a car from Italy to NZ.
