People need to be aware of this person, he has scammed me of almost $150 in an auction I had won. Trade me has tried helping me track this person down without any success. So now Im $148 down and nothing to show for it. Ive learned my lesson once so now I choose to use the "Pay Now" option.

There were a few clues you might have noticed prior to bidding. This person's feedback was extremely poor. While his/her previous red faces were for defaulting as a buyer, he or she had never sold a single item on TradeMe previously and admitted this to you in the Q&A. He or she was not authenticated nor address verified. All of these elements would have rung alarm bells for many buyers.

As an example, while you haven't sold anything on TM yet, your 3 red faces and the fact that you are neither authenticated nor address verified would put me off buying from you if the trade was worth more than a couple of dollars. Using PayNow could help you to avoid dodgy new traders like this, but there are thousands of credible sellers who won't take pay now because they see it as just another way of TM clipping the ticket.

While it would be possible for TradeMe to help to track this person down by contacting traders he/she has previously purchased from, hopefully leading to an addresss, I'm sorry to say that our past experience suggests this is unlikely.
