Domain registration scams

Post by iauction » Wed Nov 26, 2008 9:20 pm

This morning I had an letter in my mail box from Domain Registry of America to renew my domain name. I never heard of DROA.

http://www.droa.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Any of my domain names are not registered with DROA and asking to renew my domain name by 23rd December 2008. Asking for my Credit Card Details and post my payment to Melbourne Austrlia.

I've Googled droa.com and noticed they are scammers.

If you ever get a letter from "Domain Registry of America" please don't give them your credit card details and throw the letter in the trash!

This is the same Melbourne IT crowd who have been running this scam
for years. I received another one in the mail a few days ago from the
"Domain Renewal Group" which is another alias for the same scammers.

The Melbourne IT crew are still spewing out their domain registration scams. One of my clients received a letter
from the "Domain Renewal Group" this week. These people illegally "scrape" the NZ domain database then send out
official looking letters demanding $AU45 per year per domain.

Unfortunately for them their robot has screwed up badly. So while they've sent their pseudo-invoice to one of my
clients, they're invoicing him for another client's domain. I've contacted the Domain Name Commission.
