Hello

First time poster, I signed up here after having problems with 24/7 Hosting and came across the forums here whilst Googling. I am about to migrate away next week from them after having no end of problems with them since March 2014.

To give them some credit their service was good in 2013 and I was happy and satisfied with them until this year 2014.

Two weekends ago I discovered early on Saturday Morning 5:30am that my website was gone not accessible.

Then my emails were not working, after completing a WHOIS check I discover to my absolute amazement that my domains have been cancelled now pending release.

But this can't be right as in November 2013 I paid my annual domain renewal fees to 24/7 Hosting my domains weren't due for renewal until December 2014.

I naturally opened a support ticket at 6am with 24/7 Hosting estimated responce time 51mins ok fair enough is early Saturday Morning give them some time to respond.

12:00 mid-day no reply no responce nothing, So I rang their 0800 number "Sorry Mobiles are blocked" I jump on the landline and ring through waited 20 minutes only to go voicemail and be told to lodge a support ticket.

I ring back and left an urgent voicemail. Providing a number of ways and means and numbers for getting in touch with me.

3:30pm Nothing no reply not a peep from them. I leave another voicemail message pleading for their assistance, As I run an IT and Telecomms business and with website down, emails down I was effectively "knee capped"

6:00pm Nothing no responce, I leave further and susequent voicemail, messages, send emails and update support tickets.

8:00pm Nothing no responce.

By Sunday Morning I had hoped something would have been done but again nothing. No replies to my support tickets, no phone calls, no emails, nothing.... Then suddenly at 8pm Domain re-activated but activated for only a month. But hey I've already paid for 1 year. Now my domain expires again in April!!!

Got a support ticket reply from Jay apologising for problem and that it has been fixed. Domain and website, emails working again.

21st March 2014 Opened support ticket as new domain names not registered after waiting 24 hours despite payment being made instantly on Credit Card. Once again nothing no replies, no responce. A day or so later domain names finally registered and activated. Once more Got a support ticket reply from Jay apologising for problem and that it has been fixed. Domain finally registered.

Friday Morning just passed purchased a number of new domain names for my customers. 24 Hours later no activated. Support ticket raised and as expected no responce.

Quite simply I've had enough of 24/7 Hosting and are moving out of there this coming week. I will not be using them ever again.

Well after 2 more days of no action with domain name registration at "24/7 Hosting" Was told by Jay that they have some system problems.

I went to 1st Domains and registered my domain names .com's in less then 10 minutes.

Thanks 1st Domains you are awesome. As for 24/7 Hosting I look forward to my refund for domain names paid for but never registered.

Steer clear of these guys, I have had some of the same issues discussed here.

I would suggest making a complaint to the NZ Domain Name Commission (http://www.comcom.govt.nz/the-commissio ... complaint/) and to the Commerce Commission (http://www.comcom.govt.nz/the-commissio ... complaint/).

I can't believe this company is still operating!

I have only just found this thread after having some issues with them, I purchased two domains but they stayed "pending" for a week. Tried sending tickets with no response so I phoned the 0800 number, but it is now disconnected. On a positive side I never purchased a hosting plan so the amount of money I spent was minimal.

This morning I sent through a complaint to the commerce commission, hopefully if more people get onto this it will help stop 24/7 from operating. From the feedback I've seen it should have been shut down years ago!

PS I've since purchased my domain names through another company, and had it all sorted within 10 minutes!

It basically looks like 24/7 Hosting (NZ) are dead, deceased, gone. From what I have read the administrators are probably moving in and shutting the place down / selling off to another supplier. The hosting is still running but:

> The phone lines have been cut off
> WHM (hosting manager) is gone, you just get to a blank install
> You can't access the Control panel
> Ticketing is no longer addressed; for a while they were deleting my tickets but now they just don't respond

My honest advice would be to FTP out all of your sites, backup databases (you'll have to do that via PHP I guess as I can't get to PHPMyAdmin!) and then find a new host to switch to.

I'm personally looking at:
> WebSlice - bit concerned over their business size, don't want another 24/7 Hosting!
> Net24 - VPS not managed, not comfortable with server admin :?
> Telecom - Seems to be single accounts, not reseller/multi domain - awaiting feedback
> Orcon - Unlimited space allowance, not sure if Windows or Linux
> WebBase - Stingey on data until you pay the premium package
> CrazyDomains - VPS with ridiculously large amounts of space, but think it's in Australia
> KiwiHosting.net - Great space allowance
> OpenHost - Mixed reviews about service

Webslice, Orcon and Kiwihosting.net winning at present. Any other thoughts?? :?:

I'm not surprised that they've finally fallen over, and wonder why it's taken this long. For hosting I'd seriously recommend http://webhostdirect.co.nz/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - Bruce runs a nice little operation with solid servers and excellent support when required. I'm sure he'll come up with a package to suit your needs. And please, tell him we sent you. ;-)

Hey Guys

I'm Matt from Voyager Internet. We operate a number of Internet services however am commenting in this thread as 24/7 Hosting is one of our Domain Resellers and has gone AWOL. While we don't know who was providing their Email and Web-Hosting services we can help any displaced customers with their Domains etc.

Give us an email at:

Hi Matt, is Voyager able to retrieve UDAI codes for domains registered through 24/7? That may become an issue in the near future as registrations expire.

Here's a quote from 24/7's "About Us" page.
In our opinion no other Web Host in New Zealand is even close to the services and support we provide
After a quick read through this three year old thread, I'm sure that most right thinking people would agree with that sentiment!

Thanks Alf,

Although WebHost Direct is a small business, with our 20 years in the industry, we are proud to be able to say we have had nothing but good things said about our service, systems, friendly support and prices.

We realise some website owners need very basic resources so we even have a free hosting account. And we have some serious hosting plans, some for under $5 per month! We also have some of the most competitively priced reseller hosting in NZ.

I've spent much of the last few weeks, up to 11pm some nights, supporting many 24/7 "clients" to bring their domains, and sites, over to us, so feel free to call if we can help.

Oh, a declaration that we should make, we sponsor the ScamBusters site's hosting, just our way to support the cause.

I joined a webhost direct a couple of weeks ago after finding this thread and seeing the recommendation at the beginning of this thread - I was checking out reviews of 24/7 hosting and glad I did my research first!

This was my first time creating a site and webhost direct have been very helpful, I would also recommend them for anyone needing hosting.

I am a hobby web developer who has a few websites that I look after for Canterbury businesses.
I was with Eleven2.com for a long time but in the last two or three years they have ballooned in size and their actual hosting service was plagued with downtime.
In February this year, I found 24/7 Hosting, which seemed perfect for me - server located in Christchurch, super fast connection for me, my clients and their customers, and good pricing for New Zealand hosting.

What helped seal the deal for me, was the advertising for 'AA Smartfuel' posted all over the 24/7 Hosting website. I figured if they were an affiliate of that scheme, then they must be a reasonably big and reputable company.
I paid for 1 year hosting, and entered my Smartfuel card number and never received the promised 5c discount. I now tend to think that they have just put that there to sound better yet probably have no affiliation at all with AA Smartfuel... another shoddy business tactic.

However, my hosting account with them has been pretty good - I guess their website is all automated so no human at the other end has had any involvement with my account but my sites are hosted and work super fast and I've never had any downtime.
I tried to post a ticket asking about my AA Smartfuel discount but my ticket got deleted... lol...

I never knew there was any issues with 24/7 Hosting until I got the email (below) from them this morning. Then I googled their name and sure enough, so many negative comments.
Damn... I have bad luck as it's not the first online NZ business I've had problems with (PC Gear Dunedin - spent a year dealing with them and the Commerce Commission).

This is the email that 24/7 Hosting have sent out today:
Dear Customer,
Many of you have suffered poor service at the hands of 24/7 Hosting NZ over the past three weeks. In the worst cases – and there are many of them – this service has been completely absent.

We know that this has impacted our client base personally and professionally. We know that much speculation has been swirling in the New Zealand news media, and overseas. We know that we have a huge clean-up task on our hands, to put things right for you.
The management structure and ownership of 24/7 Hosting NZ has been urgently reviewed. A formal announcement will be made early this week.
Meanwhile, we have refreshed our team with experienced and capable staff who will be working through every support request with urgency. We understand that for some this will be too little, too late. To all of you, we very sincerely and humbly apologise.
In the long term, we hope to find ways to make things right. Immediately, our focus is on restoring a stable and reliable service.

As some contact methods are still down, please submit enquiries via either:
- e-mail to support@247hosting.co.nz
- our support ticketing system, at https://support.247hosting.co.nz/clientarea.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

We will be responding to all enquiries as soon as possible. Your patience is appreciated.

Yours truly,

The team at 24/7 Hosting NZ.

And to further update:
We were recently alerted to 24/7’s lack or service and response to its customers and have as a result terminated our agreement with them and they no longer can issue AA Smartfuel Discounts.

This will be advised to our cardholders in our fortnightly email being issued later this week and we are also working to have 24/7 remove all AA Smartfuel branding from their website as clearly it’s misleading.

We appreciate you contacting us to advise of your concerns and reiterate that 24/7 Hosting no longer participates in the AA Smartfuel programme despite currently still promoting this online.
